Riz Ahmed has been making waves and then some since his breakout role in HBO’s The Night Of; with an Emmy win and Oscar nomination under his belt, there is no telling what he will achieve next. Ahmed delivers another stellar performance, this time as a British-Pakistani rapper in Bassam Tariq’s narrative feature debut MOGUL MOWGLI. The film follows Zed’s (Ahmed) burgeoning music career, however things take a turn when he is hit by a degenerative disease that threatens everything he holds close. Co-written by Ahmed and Tariq, MOGUL MOWGLI brilliantly uses Zed’s illness as a tool to explore deeper issues such as culture and identity. - Neha Aziz, Shorts Programmer
