Angie Chen (Emma Galbraith) is, like any teen, an emotional mess. Her parents just got a divorce, her crush Liam (William Magnuson) is taken by the school’s most popular blonde girl, and her mixed heritage makes her feel disconnected from her dad’s new family. In her whirlwind of pain and confusion, Liam becomes a beacon of light, and they start secretly spending the night together, hooking up in the evening and eating frozen waffles in the morning. Using the backdrop of Galveston, TX, director Mei Makino creates a heartfelt and poignant teen dramedy that radiates creative brilliance with INBETWEEN GIRL. — Jenny Nulf, Programs Director
