Indie Meme (www.indiememe.org) is a non-profit in Austin, TX that has been engaging, educating, entertaining, and bringing together different communities to promote cross-cultural understanding and help build a globally conscious community through screening independent films.

The 2024 Indie Meme Film Festival is from April 17 - 21 and will screen 8-10 full length feature films/documentaries, along with an impressive showcase of many locally sourced and international short films.

They offer screenings of carefully curated independent cinema – feature films, documentaries, short films and so on from South Asia (India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Afghanistan, Nepal, Bhutan, & Iran). All of their screened films are subtitled in English, as their aim is to connect the audience with the makers of the films and celebrate them for their creative genius.

Towards that end, they follow their screenings with an interactive session with the filmmakers/actors either with an opportunity for a face-to-face meetup or connect with them via teleconferencing
